Job Description
The Vice President of Information Technology (IT) is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing the organization's entire technology infrastructure. This includes evaluating, maintaining, and improving computer systems, software, and network operations. The role is crucial in ensuring data security, preventing cyber threats, and supporting the IT needs of various departments. The VP of IT also leads and supervises the IT team and works closely with external vendors to support ongoing technological initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
Information Security Leadership: Serve as the organization's Chief Information Security Officer, ensuring the protection of all computers and networks from viruses, malware, and security threats.
IT Infrastructure Management: Evaluate and recommend upgrades to network infrastructure, servers, computer systems, and software, aligning them with organizational goals.
Project Management: Lead and oversee technical projects, ensuring they are completed on time and meet business objectives. Coordinate with other departments to understand their technology needs.
Systems Maintenance: Collaborate with the IT team to maintain, repair, and upgrade servers, telephony systems, and networks, ensuring maximum uptime and efficiency.
Data Protection: Ensure the security and integrity of all data, including backups, application services, and network operations.
Policy Development: Assist in the creation of IT policies and procedures, including cybersecurity and HIPAA compliance, to support organizational standards and industry regulations.
Team Leadership and Training: Supervise the IT department, providing guidance, training, and professional development to ensure staff are equipped to manage technology effectively.
External Collaboration: Build and maintain strong relationships with external IT vendors, overseeing contracts and ensuring services meet the organization's needs.
Incident Management: Lead the Incident Response Team, ensuring prompt and effective action in the event of security incidents.
Governance and Oversight: Chair the IT Governance Committee and ensure all IT operations are in line with governance practices.
Qualifications:
Educational Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Technology or a related field, plus 5 years of relevant experience,
OR an Associate's degree with 7 years of relevant experience,
OR a combination of education and 10 years of experience.
Technical Skills:
Proficiency with Microsoft technologies (e.g., Exchange, Microsoft 365 Cloud),
Experience with EHR/EMR systems,
Solid networking skills in a software-defined network (SDN),
Server management with a focus on Microsoft server operating systems,
Active Directory experience in a large user environment (500+ users),
Familiarity with HIPAA, Hi-Tech, and NYS SHEILD Act regulations.
Supervisory Experience: Proven ability to lead and manage teams, providing strategic direction and fostering collaboration.
Preferred Qualifications:
Prior experience with large-scale IT operations, including network security and cloud technologies.
Strong understanding of compliance regulations, particularly related to healthcare (HIPAA, HITECH).
Working Conditions:
Flexible in assignments and hours, with the ability to adapt to changing work schedules.
Occasional travel to various locations as required.
Must possess a valid driver's license for local travel to meetings and other work-related activities.
